Firstly,you have to know your table size.How to measure the table for a tablecloth?No matter the shape of your table is,measure from entire with and length (diameter if it is round) from one edge to the other edge.If you don’t have tape on hand or can not measure the table size right now.Below are some standard table sizes based on seats.
generally if your table seat is 6-8 seats,the table size would be 48”(122cm)4ft.
If your table seat is 8-10 seats,the table size would be 60”(152cm)5ft
If your table seat is 10-12 seats,the table size would be 72”(183cm)6ft
If your table seat is 4 seats,the table size would be 48”*30”/122*76cm/4fg*2.5ft
If your table seat is 5-6 seats,the table size would be 60”*30”/152*76cm/5ft*2.5ft
If your table seat is 6-8 seats,the table size would be 72”*30”/183*76cm/6ft*2.5ft
If your table seat is 8-10 seats,the table size would be 96”*30”/244*76cm/8ft*2.54ft
If your table seat is 2-4seats,the table size would be 30”/76cm/2.5ft

Secondly,if you have got your table size,then you will consider the drop length(the length of the table cover hangs down below the edge of the table).Regularly,on casual occasion,the table cloth is just cover the table or they would like to 9-18”drop.But in formal dining,they would like to drop longer,like 24-30”.So you will consider where and when you want to use it.It doesn’t have to consider the formal or casual occasion,just follow your heart,like if you want to hide the legs of the table,no matter the occasion is,drop to ground(30inches)would be great.
Once you decide the drop length,then multiply it by two(since the the tablecloth will drop on each side of the table) and add your table size,that's your table cloth size.
Here is an example.If your table size is 48"round and you want to it drop 18”,the table cloth size would be 15"*2+48"=72inches.
